No date on the article, so I’m hoping it’s a bit newer.
I am thinking of purchasing the Lorell Executive High Back Chair, but one quick question: How well does it last? I’m a heavier guy (not obese) and am 6’3″ and the last few chairs have been higher quality but completely shoddy construction. I may be on the phone for hours in a day and enjoy leaning back. The two wear points that have been an issue are the seat cushion and the connection from the base to the seat. By leaning, I put a great deal of pressure on bracket that connects the two and wind up splitting them apart. It certainly doesn’t happen in a day, but over the course of 18-24 months, I’m looking for chairs again. The seat cushion issue involves the padding flattening over time, creating spots where the hardware begins to poke through.

Thanks for the question! As a bigger guy your always going to put more wear and tear on your chair especially if you are using it all day long. You definitely don’t want to be sitting on hardware poking up.
The Lorell Executive High Back Chair is a big chair and should work for your size. I don’t know what you have used in the past but a larger chair with a higher back might solve the problem your having.
That being said a chair that has heavy use is probably only going to last 2-3 years. You might be able to extend it further but your going to risk being uncomfortable. Or you could by a $700+ Aeron chair and maybe squeeze out 5 years of use.
In my opinion the Lorell Executive is the best bang for the buck in terms of quality and construction. If you have been sitting on low quality chairs this is going to be a big upgrade for you.

Lorell Executive High Back Chair. I have this chair and let me tell you, it is the worst chair I’ve ever had! It’s fine for very light use, for short periods, but if you sit in it any length of time, it is quite painful. Not just uncomfortable, straight up painful to the butt. I had no problems with the back/lumbar “support”, but the seat itself feels like a park bench or horse saddle. It “spreads” you the wrong way if you know what I mean and feels like it would cause actual damage if used very long. I am a 200 pound man, so I can’t say how it would be to a more petite person. The build quality is as good or better than some cheap chairs I’ve seen, but as I said, the chair is painful and feels like it would cause rectal prolapse if used regularly…seriously, I’m not trying to be gross.
